Code: PCC/21/353 Safeguarding Adults - detailed: (For managers/ senior staff in care homes, nursing homes & supported living in PCC, SCAT-PP, public, independent, private & voluntary organisations)

A two session course to enable managers in the public, voluntary, private and independent sector to fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities effectively, and to work with their partners in the statutory sector to achieve, wherever possible, the outcomes service users wish to achieve for themselves.


Who should attend?
Anyone who works in a managerial or senior capacity in a health or social care provider setting (e.g. residential homes, day centres, supported living, domiciliary care etc.). Participants should already have a good understanding of the basics of Safeguarding Adults as this is not an awareness session.

This course is a virtual course run via Zoom or Teams - joining instructions will be sent to via diary invite a week before the course date.


Please note, this course will have regular breaks for participants so please ensure you take yourself away from the screen. The course is aimed to be interactive

Course overview:
This 2 hour session gives a complete overview of the work of the IWT
in helping the residents of Portsmouth keep well, stay independent and active in the community. The session covers our team purpose, approach, ways of working and client group(s).

 

Target Audience:
All staff, volunteers and community organisations and members, working with people who are living independently within their community or those who have the capacity to regain the ability to do so.

Cultural competencies gives you an overview of minority ethnic groups in Portsmouth. It explores what culture is and develops participants' cultural competencies. The course also looks at barriers that minority ethnic groups face when accessing services and how they can be overcome.

The course is aimed at any one, professionals and volunteers who would like to develop their practice in working with Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups in Portsmouth.

The wellbeing of hybrid teams, and the wellbeing of the managers who lead them, was a big theme that came out of the conversations at the Leading a Hybrid Team workshops L&D ran this summer.
