This 1¾ hour session gives a complete overview of the work of the IWT
in helping the residents of Portsmouth keep well, stay independent and active in the community. The session covers our team purpose, approach, ways of working and client group(s).
Target Audience:
All staff, volunteers and community organisations and members working with people who are living independently within their community or those who have the capacity to regain the ability to do so.

Course overview:
Cultural awareness is essential for anybody working with the diverse community in Portsmouth. This course provides an overview of ethnic minority demographics within Portsmouth and an introduction to larger communities and their culture.
Participants will gain insight into people from other cultures enhancing their self-awareness and develop their confidence in working with people from different backgrounds. The course also explores some of the barriers ethnic minority communities face when accessing services, ideas on how to overcome these and aspects of mental health and wellbeing within different cultures.

The First Aid at Work Requalification (FAWR) is suitable only for those delgates who have an in date First Aid at Work qualification and it is approaching expiry.
Please only book on this course if your certificate is due to expire with 3-4 months of the date of this course.
